side curtain airbags were "available" from 97 on, but mostly on the 2.8L models, 99 it became standard i believe. Anyone that uses a a pillar gauge pod on an A4 WITHOUT taking off the pillar to check for an airbag (even if it doesn't have a symbol) is an idiot. Yes there are A4's out there with pillar air bags without markings. Don't ask me i don't know.

 

so then what should i do?

 

Take off the A-pillar and check for a large white air bag that runs accross the a-pillar. If its just steel then your golden, install whatever you want.

 

call supreme power parts .com they told me they could make one for one two or three gauges.

 

i stated that i have taken it off and there is no airbag!

my question is, is the 99 passat pillar the same as the 99 A4 pillar?, b/c i cant find a 99a4 pillar, just 98 and before

The interior of a passat is different, the only thing the passat shares with the A4 is the drivetrain and the suspension.

and how big of a difference is the 98 pillar compared to the 99?

 

could i buy a 98 pilar pod and have my cousin fiberglass it up and have it wrapped in cloth? or is it too big of a difference?
