i kno wen reading this it seems like another verses thread but its not. ive been having problems with by b6 a4 1.8. i got hids n the ppl who installled it did a chop job n now all the wiring has been exposed to heat so theres no way to turn on my left headlight. so my mom runs me the idea that maybe i should get a new car n ask me how the new ones r goin for. so wen i took the car yesterday to audi to look at my light i saw all the new a3's i admitt ive become a big fan of them. so i tell her about 27-28 stick plus tax. she goes maybe we should trade in. what u guys think. i love that car! advantages are that its a 2.0t as apposed to me 1.8t and has 200hp as apposed to my 170. disadvantage the only a3 affered with quattro i beleive is the 3.2 s line whicch id die to get with the new dsg. but fact remains id get the 2.0 t. so is it worht sacraficing my quattro for the a3? any comments would be helpful thanx.

 

Well the A3 is a really nice car. The 2.0t engine is great too. Where do you live? If you are down south you will be fine without quattro.

 

Yeah I like the a3s nice little car. In fact one parks right by me at work. I dont think quattro is a madatory option but a very valued one. It doesnt just help in the snow, but rain and dry pavement as well.

 

Yeah but in reality... quattro on dry pavement isn't going to do much, ever. Wet roads... yeah sure sometimes... but snow is really where quattro is worth the added expense.

I love the A3... it's been growing on me slowly ever since it came out. It is a shame that you can't get the 2.0T with quattro... but the S3 is coming, and it will have a 270~hp 2.0T, and quattro. Cooool!

 

get the **** out a s3 i heard one wouldnt be relaesed in th us b/c of poor a3 sales. i heard only an rs3 would see the us some time next year if that. where did ypou hear about the s3. in a way im happy it isnt quattro cuz im not loosn 11% powertrain but i live in NY so the quattro does come some what on handy in the snow.

 

A3 is nice but not for me. I prefer the "sedan" look. Also, future modding may be limited at least for a while. I understand that the turbo is somehow integral to the exhaust manifold.

If $ is no object, then do what you want. I'm sure it would be cheaper to have a qualified person fix your B6 then mod the sh*t out of it!

But as I said, my opinion is heavily biased.

 

i have a friend with an a3 2.0t its pretty stout hes done exhaust, chip, p&p intake manifold and head, and intake. I believe its throwing done around 270 - 280chp.

 

a3's are sweeeet....i didnt know they lacked AWD tho. i like them a lot but if it were me making the purchase i would stick with the sedan body style.

 

I'll take the A3 when they bring out the 2 door version

 

Saw an A3 wagon with an S badge yesterday. Wasn't close enough to see whether it said S3 or S-Line, but it had the aggressive door blades, big wheels, and lowered stance.

Bummer about the quattro - I was actually starting to like the A3/2.0T and was thinking it would make a great car for my GF until I heard that it can't be had with quattro...
