Default a4 1.8t misfire problem!

Hi everyone,

After returning to my '97 1.8t after 6 weeks my car has developed a misfire. This happens at 300rpm and at 5200rpm although not as bad. It feels as though I am hitting a rev limiter, the rpm drops down to 2500 and then rises again. Above and below this all is fine although the car definitely feels low on power. It makes no difference whether I am driving or in neutral the same happens.
I added stp injection cleaner to the fuel but it made no difference.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Well use up the last of that gas and fill it with premium and see if that helps. Maybe some condensation in the tank?

I had the exact same sensation with my Talon... and I changed plugs and wires -- and all was well in the world again (as well as it could be for a DSM). But yeah, the rev limiter sensation is what made me think of it... low on power, and then it just wouldnt go past 5000 RPM. Dont think sitting there would soil your plugs or wires though... who knows, if you havent changed plugs/wires recently, do it anyhow :P

Yo I had the same type of problem last week. two of my coil packs went bad so I replaced em all and did the plugs it cost me like 500 bucks. Also the output stage on those things are known to go bad the audi dealer told me. Good luck man
