if its just a coil pack, you can buy those for 50-75 bucks and install yourself.

I had the same problem with my 02 A4 1.8T. My car would idle really rough and sound like it was going to die. At one point it did. My check engine light would appear? Is that the same case with yours? I then noticed that there was what looked like a vacuum hose that was seperated from eachother on the back top part of the manifold that looked as if it would snap back together. that was not the case, it was not to be seperated. the conclusion was that it was that the suction pump was split. they then replaced it and now runs fine. Hope this helps

Forget if cel was on, just saw it running rough and had it taken away. They said it was this "spark control module" but I don't know if he was just incorrectly referring to another part. Anywho, he said something was clogging my exhaust specificly my cat. Buy I have a borla exhaust with like less than 20k on it, I don't understand this at all. This gives me the impression that they may not actually have any clue as to what they are doing, but all I can do is sit back and hope.

What's the difference between "spark control module" and "ignition coil pack"? I'm curious...

...borla doesn't make a hi-flo cat... they just make the mufflers and afterpipes.
so... where's the confusion?

No confusion now, thanks Bro. Don't know about the ignition coil one, is it the same thing?

same thing - unlees they mean the "ignition control amplifier/module". The ICM as its called is a piece on the top of your airbox (under the pretty cover)

Well, picked it up today. Spark control module replaced, idles fine. They still tell me my cat is clogged, so I took it to another place to have that changed. It was a challenge to say the least to drive, no acceleration ect. Hopefully wont take more than a day.

This will not end..... Cat changed, no imporovement. Now they tell me it's an ECM problem, and that it wasn't programed fully or properly or something like that. Oh, and I need an o2 sensor. They will let me know how much $$$ on Monday... The dealership that is.
