A4 2.8Q Question
Hey all, have a few questions for you more experienced Audi owners out there, hopefully you can help. First off, what would be a rough estimate for full service on a A4 2.8Q (automatic w/ tiptronic) from a dealer? I'm not quite sure what that even entails with Audi, but I'm assuming something along the lines of like a full diagnostic of the the system, tune-up and so on? Also, my Malfunction Indicator light is shining bright at the moment, popped up a few days ago, read up on it a little bit and found that not clicking the gas cap could cause it, turns out my cap was tightened fully, so I'm assuming that's the problem. Does the light turn off on it's own when the problem is rectified, or does Audi have to reset it? Thanks all, I appreciate it!!
Full service depends on mileage.
It could be simply doing lube. oil, filters, fluids, and checking fittings. Or it could be as much as timing belt, fuel pump, etc.
If it's your CEL (check engine light), it will need to be reset by the dealer or anyone who has a VAG-COM.

Its not the check engine light, its the MIL light, looked it up in the manual and mentioned it being an emmissions malfunction. So once that light is on, it has to be reset by the VAG?
Hmmm... not sure. I know the Mercedes warning lamp goes out after the seal has been corrected, so... one would hope that Audi acts the same way. If it doesn't go out after a few miles with a good gas cap seal, then yes, it would need to be reset by VAG-COM or an Audi service tech.
most mils will go out eventualy the more serious they are the longer it takes to go out it goes by number of trips or two hours of driving time I believe, some will go out in one trip some take three but if the problem is still there it obviously wont go out...
yeah when you start your car it has a pump in the left rear quarter panel and it with pressureize the evap line and gas tank if theres no pressure the you get a mil
Also one time I replaced a vacuum line ant put the check valve in backwards which resulted in the same mil because instead of sealing under pressure it just pissed the air into the intake theres a diagram of how all the check valves should go under the hood mine is right above where the ecu goes...in case you need to check

Welcome GsW!!
Wow!! I want to get service at your Audi dealership!
You're going to need to have the timing belt replaced in ~4000 miles, too. It's an expensive service, but necessary. Then again, based on your service prices, maybe not!!
