I'm an Audi wannabe and have done some preliminary looking/driving at an A4 Cabriolet at a dealer. The salesman told me that all 3.0 A4's are Quattros. I've looked around on the site but couldn't find an answer. Since I am dealing with a "used car salesman" I would like a "second opinion". The car was great and won me over from considering a BMW or a Volvo. It sure is different from my wifes XK8 that we're looking to replace.

Used car salesmen can't afford to sound like they don't know it all. They need to make you feel like they know what they are talking about and makes you feel secure in the sale.

Answer is Yes FWD is an option - tell the idiot to go to KBB.com and have it explain why its an available option.
What year is the car

 

The car is an '03. I've noticed some billed as Quattro's and others don't specify either way. The prices I see are all consistent regardless of the claims, and the others I have looked at are all listed at Audi Dealerships. I guess the question is if the 3.0's aren't all Quattro's then what's the key to figure it out myself?

 

If the car is a Quattro. It will say it on the interior dash. It should also say it on the back right below (3.0) but that isn't for sure, but it does on my 03 1.8T.

Most are quattro - not all. You might find a couple It will say quattro on the front grill (lower passenger side of grill) and on the trunk(below 3.0) - or ask

 

and if it doesnt have any markings saying quattro have him do a car fax it should say 2003 audi a4 quattro if it is a quattro. if he doesnt know then why is he selling cars?

 

MOST car salesmen aren't really up on their product line. I have a friend who sold cars for over 30 years and would always find him spouting inaccuracies. Remember that they are "salesmen" and could conceivably be selling shoes next week.
