Which A4
I currently drive a 1997 A4 2.8 Quattro (30v)
I am considring taking out about £7000 finance and trading in my car for somethign newer and/or better, so far i have test drove a 2003 A4quattro sport 3.0 saloon it was very nice but not hugely better to drive than mine fro £7000 more.
Pleae bear in mind i live in the uk, the cost of fuel is very high and a 2 litre engine is considered fairly big, I often get my car referred to as a gas guzzler, which you americans would probably find amusing.
If i coudl afford an RS4 i woudl get one, but even a 1997 RS4 still pulls abotu £15k in the uk
out of my league
Here are my options i have considered, please post commecnts as to why you voted waht you voted, and thanks for your input.

i thought a supercharger woud take my car to abotu 290 bhp (more than a stock S4) then n20 purge on that, surley it would beat a stock s4 ? but i apreciate an s4 can be tuned much better to beat even the highest tuned A4.
however im nto arguing, just what i read somewhere once
the votes are telling me to get an S4 so far.

oh yes i agrea, it doesnt make sense to spend that much money on such an old car which has depreciated so much in value (currently worth about £2500), however its this part of your post i was refering to "With all the money you'd throw into a supercharger you still wouldn't have a chance aginst an S4 " I dont agrea with that, but i agrea it makes more sense to just get an S4 than do this work.
well guys im afraid I went against the pole when weighing up the pro`s and cons i decided i couldnt afford to maintain an S4, with it being older and having more to go wrong with it, so I boughta 2003 A4 3.0 Quattro Sport. It has some optional extras, it cost £28k when it was new.
Its got above average milage at 65,000 miles, however it has a full audi service history, only 1 previous owner, apparently they are motorway miles, its completely standard, even the ICE hasnt been touched still has the concert system in it and 6 disc changer.
It is immaculate inside and out with not even a mark on it anywhere.
Its in dark navy blue, i wouldve prefered black, but i couldnt find one in my budget in black and this is very close to black, looks black at night, but just a hint of blue in the day.
The book price for it is £13,000 i paid £11,000 plus i got £3,000 back on my B5 (more than it was worth) trade in. I think i got a good deal.
Here are the pictures off auto trader , I havent taken any myself yet, they show it well though.

hope youall aprove. the S4 is the more fun option, but this is the more sensible option, but still fun
/edit think ile be getting an ECU remap in about a month
to kick things off
