Hi all,

Im new to this board. Im in need of some help with deciding which A4 to go with, I see there are 3 main types, the B5, B6 and B7. I am from the UK so I would think that there are differences with the UK A4 and the US A4? can someone enlighten me?? I think i like the look of the B6, but this board seems to have a pro B5 feel, cant afford the B7 right now. I was looking at the 1.8T Quattro Sport. I am also having problems deciding what BHP this car has, I was looking at a 2002 to a 2003 model. Any info on the UK spec of these cars would be great, ive had a look on google and the info is very different depending on where you look, ive seen some stating that the 1.8T Quattro Sport have 150 bhp, some 163 and others 190, im confused i thought it was only the new A4 that had 190 bhp

I want to go down the road of an intake, exhaust and sokme ECU work. Then if thats not enough for me then i will take a look at the turbo.

So please, if anyone can help me clear this up then that would be great, im looking to purchase soon, i need the space you see as my 4 month old son is taking up a lot more room than my Hyundai Coupe 2.7 V6 can handle, lol

if you are looking for a 2002 and up the b6 and b7 are the only available to you. the b6 2002 1.8t has stock 170 hp i believe. Yes alot of people here are pro b5 and they say its because its 200 pounds less heavy and looks sportier, you can make your own conclusions. I like the way the b6s look.
Not really sure what the difference is between the US and UK cars. Im not sure what you meant by the exhaust and ECU work, but if you mean you want to know what to get in the future, there is a list of websties at the top of the forum that have everything that you could ever thing of buying for an audi. alot of them have sound files of the exhaust and good descriptions of the chips you can get. there are different engine codes for the 1.8Ts that have different HP ratings....in the UK, the B5 is 95-00, B6 is 01-05....our 1.8Ts have 150HP stock up to 00, then in 01 they uped it to 170HP, but the UK is different, you have a few different engine codes with dif HP ratings. the highest stock HP rating possible is 170, but i think the 150HP engine is the most common over there. If you post the engine code of the car youre looking at we can tell you the HP rating....the first mod to get would be a chip (40+HP for 400-600 bucks)..like betz said, check out the "audi links" sticky at the top of this forum for all your mod info..

 

Excellent, Thanks for the info guys. I think the version im looking at is the one known as the 1.8T 163 Quattro Sport, where the 163 is the BHP. But i will post the engine codes and you can then help me confirm. Thanks very much
