Default A4 air intake/filter

02-05 A4owners - what air intake system are you running? what filter? want to change mine out, but don't see many options other than the k&n panel filter in the stock air box.

+1 on that one. I have a b6 and havent found an intake system that looked like it would help.

Do you have a 3.0 or 1.8? Neither engine really has a intake that will do anything.

your trying to get an intake that'll give you a significant amount of hp? that's like waiting for the leaves to have ones and zeros on them haha. the only thing an intake will do four our cars is better sound. i you have a 4 banger, a chip is your best bet for a good amount of hp and if you have a v6, your outa luck unless someone comes up with a cheap way to make a supercharger or something

thanks for your insight "hiwords". you obviously spend too much time on the computer.i wasn't asking about intakes because i'm trying to add heaps of HP...my grandmother could tell you that an intake doesn't really add all that much to any car...it's merely time for me to change my filter because it's dirty so i thought i'd get some opinions from fellow A4 drivers. next time i want your advice i'll wait for leaves to have ones and zeros on them.

for those who replied saying they were having the same issue trying to find the best system for your B6, I received a PM from somebody with a good answer. I have the 1.8t and what the guy said is that it has been dyno tested that the stock airbox is the best option for this car and motor. i'm going to use the k&n filter with the stock box.

cheers.

i heard a K&N won't add anything to your HP or TQ. someone here did a comparo a long time ago and it did nothing. if anything, you risk fouling things up with the K&N oil.with engines built as well as ours, there's little room for improvement.

a K&N worked well with my old mustang. i think it helped it. but with the audi, it's good off the dealer lot.

you get the non-oiled k&n drop in filter and put it in the stock airbox

actually, after a little more research, the k&n sounds like a bad idea because of the oil messing with the system. almost everyone is of the opinion that the stock set up and filter is the best way to go. awesome, everyone, put your money elsewhere!

I just went the route of putting an AEM dryflow filter on the stock MAF and bought a custom heatshield for it. Makes it sound much better, very little hp gain but keeps the intake cold.
