Anybody out there know how to modify the boot lid on a 2005 A4 saloon so that it pops open when you unlock it with the key fob - the factory option is only £30 ($50) so it can't be much. I have a feeling it's just a different set of gas struts that are more powerful than the standard ones - but I might be barking up the wrong tree.

 

Hmmm strange. In the US we never had that option it's included. <scratches head>

 

yeah i had no clue that it was an option... that would bea pretty cool DIY mod if we can figure it out..

 

Would it not just be that same idea as a door popper??? With stronger gas struts?

I'm going to suss it out one way or the other. The parts dept. at my local dealer tell me there are 2 different type of struts available so i have a feeling one is the standard set & the other is the more powerful ones which pop the boot up once unlocked with the key fob. watch this space.

To me this seems like a waste of time and money... I guess it would be a unique DIY project, but I can think of about 100 other things Id like to do with my time and money.. But good luck with it for sure. Keep us updated.

 

it sounds a cool idea to me like when shopping and hands full one button to open the trunk and another to close and lock it Ive seen it son some of the mercs and suvs, all done by electronic rams though
