I saw something about that new VW twincharger system in the latest motor trend. It could've been road and track of car and driver. I get all those mags... so check the websites. They said it has nice power and the fuel economy was in the 40s.

ummm just get the neuspeed DSMIC kit or a FMIC and get a chip, exhuast and larger injector programming and its way beter then the 190hp 1.8T

 

i saw that article... was in the lastest car and driver... it sounds pretty sophisticated... i always wondered if you could turbo charge a supercharged motor, or would it do nothing since your compressing air already under boost? anyways i guess this isnt exactly that since the super kicks in in lower rpms while the turbo kicks in in higher rpms and the super cuts out...so i guess there not both working at the sime time... either way its a really cool idea albeit its a 1.4 liter

Yeah it sounds pretty sweet. Sounds like it utilizes a supercharger at lower rpm's, and a turbo at higher rpm's, thus giving you the best of both worlds eliminating turbo lag, and yet still having high end power of a turbo.

My team actually designed a device similar to this last summer in one of my engineering classes.
