A4 Engine Mount Fix Help
I have a 2001 A4 2.8 Quattro and I just got back from the stealerships checkup and they're saying both my front engine mounts need to be replaced. They want to charge $750 out the door... can't afford too much right now so I'm wondering if I can do the replacement myself. Is this something I should even attempt? If so, is there a write-up on doing the fix? And what mounts should I look into buying? Any help would be great. Thanks

RE: A4 Engine Mount Fix Help
They are simple, I did both of mine in an hour, if that. You have to remove the 4 13mm nuts holding the swaybar on and let it swing out of the way. Then remove the 6 (3 on each side). that hold the engine mount cradle/swaybar mount. Also remove the 10mm center motor mount bolt. use a stubby 10mm wrench to get the top motor mount bolt out. Here is a writeup on the 1.8 but it's basically the same.
http://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng57.shtml You can buy the stock motor mounts from Purems.com or you can get the 034 street mounts, which I have, they are a little stiffer than stocks and don't vibe. They are about 180 for both |
RE: A4 Engine Mount Fix Help
what he said an if you go with performance mounts you may as well upgrade the snub and have a nice locked down engine.

RE: A4 Engine Mount Fix Help
What do you guys think about the RS4 mounts? Also, where can I get the 034 mounts? I'm in LA and hoping to do the fix this weekend, any ideas for a local seller??

RE: A4 Engine Mount Fix Help
I would go with 034 mounts, they are cheaper I believe and I heard the RS4's vibe a little.
