A4 Engine Mount Fix Help
I have a 2001 A4 2.8 Quattro and I just got back from the stealerships checkup and they're saying both my front engine mounts need to be replaced. They want to charge $750 out the door... can't afford too much right now so I'm wondering if I can do the replacement myself. Is this something I should even attempt? If so, is there a write-up on doing the fix? And what mounts should I look into buying? Any help would be great. Thanks
They are simple, I did both of mine in an hour, if that. You have to remove the 4 13mm nuts holding the swaybar on and let it swing out of the way. Then remove the 6 (3 on each side). that hold the engine mount cradle/swaybar mount. Also remove the 10mm center motor mount bolt. use a stubby 10mm wrench to get the top motor mount bolt out. Here is a writeup on the 1.8 but it's basically the same.

You can buy the stock motor mounts from Purems.com or you can get the 034 street mounts, which I have, they are a little stiffer than stocks and don't vibe. They are about 180 for both

Thanks for everything so far, this REALLY helps!
What do you think about the RS4 mounts? Also, where can I get the 034 mounts? I'm in LA and hoping to do the fix this weekend, any ideas for a local seller??
