A4 engines and their Strengths...
I've been thinking about the different engines for the B5, and was curious; what are their strengths and which ones do you think are best??????? I believe the engines are 1.8T, 2.8V6 12V, 2.8V6 30V + 2 with Quattro options....

RE: A4 engines and their Strengths...
There are 3 engines for the B5 (at least for the U.S.) and they are the 12valve 2.8L v6, the 30valve 2.8L v6, and the 20valve 1.8t.
You need to do a damn search. Most people are going to give you a biased answer and you should expect that. A simple search would reveal that the 2.8 in either form is reliable and the 1.8t has its issues because there is a turbo and its plumbing to maintain, although it is an extremely solid motor built for boost and can handle a lot. Generarly all engines Audi makes are real good. Its just sometimes the electrical/plumbing stuff that can be unreliable such as MAF's and vac/boost lines etc. The engines themselves, 2.8, 1.8t, or any other have always been long runners if maintained properly. This is probably the 50th thread ive answered with almost an identical answer which tells me someone needs to start searching for answers before they clogg the forums up with the same repetetive BS when there are new threads and issues that have never been addressed and should be at the top.[:@]
