Hi there
I have an A4 Avant ('04 reg) 1.8t
We have just had a baby and want to fit a child seat in the front passenger side. As a result, we have to de-activate the passenger air bag.
I've had a hunt for a key/swith that might do this at the back of the glove box and around the whole of the car, but couldn't find one. I sent it into an Audi garage and they couldn't find it either. They have told me it will cost £600-£750 to install the key, which is the only way I can de-activate the airbag.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any help/guidance much appreciated
THank you

Last Place - just "necause"
First off never place a car seat in the front! There is no reason to have a child in the front seat. A child in the front seat is only a distraction to the driver. Place the child in the back seat where they belong. Should the driver need to attend to the child they can pull over, take care of the child and then move on. Attending to a child while driving is dangerous to everyone on the road.
Thanks LazyDog.
My fault, I should have explained: it's our third child (so legally they are allowed in the front if in a suitable seat) and they are still a baby (therefore in babyseat, rather than child's booster).
Did you have any other thoughts on the airbag?

you are dealing with the airbag if you really need to put the child in the front seat then I would suggest shelling out the money for the switch to be done at an authorized dealership, or find another car that would better suite your family. personally I think its time to get a new car, because if you wanted to go somewhere as a family you will probably have to take 2 cars or have your spouse sit very uncomfortably in the back with the other 2 kids.
Congrats on the new addition to your family! And... I agree with the other posters... it's going to be touch to squeeze 3 car seats in an A4. Would it be possible to have all three seats in the back? I'm pretty sure there are latches for a car seat in the middle of the back seat as well.
