Default a4 mods

I just got a 98 audi a4 1.8t with 62,000 miles on it but mint condition. It was owned by an old guy so its so clean (1 owner). Interior, exterior , engine and all looks like it just came off of the showroom floor. So now i have a slight problem...the car is a bit slow. What are the best mods for the money? im a college student so keep budget in mind. Thx guys

well im def gonna chip it but i dont really wanna spend a whole lot as it is a auto trans with tiprtronic. Its just not the same as a 5spd. But at a purchasing price of 7500 for a mint condition a4 i cant complain. So what choices should i be lookin at for an exhaust. I also want to go with some diff headlights. Halogen for sure and maybe HID.

*Let's hear from onepoint8tee about chip with tip. transmission

exhaust (if you want catback) will cost you more than a chip unless go custom with magnaflow or something. Borla is the cheapest catback

headlights, yes you are right about it, I want to change it too.

ya my buddy got a magnaflow on his 2.8 99 for like 280 with install. Thats dirt cheap but does it really do nething performance wise? seems to me that paying 280 is a little too cheap.

GIAC makes a "TIP" chip that decreases shift times. You can get this in conjunction w/ their regular chip..

There is nothing wrong w/ the tip tranny.... it shifts slower and probably has more drivetrain loss... but It can only handle so much.

You can go pc-16/j31 k04 w/ a Tip Tranny.. any higher and you may need to build up your tranny.

At any rate... GIAC would be a good choice for you...

you cant get revo w/ a 98....

Lists of mods I would do:

Performance:
Chip - GIAC/APR
Test Pipe - If you dont need emissions
Exhaust
Hi-Flow Filter
Mod Your Airbox to flow better

Suspension:
Koni/Stasis Coilovers - will cost you more than bilstien/h&r combo but WELL worth it.
Sway Bars - Neuspeed are popular.. H-sports are good but spendy

Looks:
Wheels - This can be in performance as well if you get lightweight wheels.
Headlights - Either get stock 99.5+ headlights or buy some E-codes (european 1 peice headlights)
Tint - looks ooo soo sweet on a black car

After that... i would go more preformance..... if you want.. if you want to take it step by step.. get a k04... then get a FMIC/injectors w/ the PC-16 file
