Hello there Audians-

I have wanted an A4 since I was in highschool, and my time to finally own one is soon approaching. I will be done with my MBA (and my 06 Pontiac G6 GT lease) in a few short months, and I plan on rewarding myself with a sweat new-to-me A4. I like the newer body style of the B6, which began in 02. I usually go with the conventional thinking and avoid the first model year of any new model. So I will probably looking for an 03 or 04 with light mileage. Definitely Quattro with manual. I like the idea of the 6 spd on the 3.0 but that is more for the novelty.

I am just starting my reseach on these vehicles, so I dont know too much about them on a technical/mechanical level yet. Just simply always liked the look. So my question is just a general one. What are the known issues with the A4 of the years I mentioned? Anything I should look for when test driving?

I first bought my Audi A4 2002 1.8T when I lived in Europe and had it shipped over because I wanted a USA Spec car. It ran flawless at 100MPH plus. It was plenty of motor and at times took it to 125 (gov hit at 128). If your looking for something faster off the line then get the 3.0 but it your patient enough to wait for the turbo to kick in then the 1.8T is plenty. Plus the gas milage is great!
