A4 to S4?
Was wondering if anyone out there has swapped out a 2.8q engine for the 2.7 turbo engine from the S4/6's? I would think its possible as the body and mounting is already set up for the same general motor... but I don't know for sure. I have access to a 2.7 bi-turbo S4 engine and if I had an idea it would fit (for the most part), maybe I'll accept it...
So anyone with experience on that subject? Or am I just out-right crazy? lol. :P

i would imagine it would fit, after all the S4 is an A4 with a different driveline and suspension. it may require some custom motor mounts, but those would not be that expensive. Also anticipate changeing out the ECU and potentially the transmission as well. The standard five speed will probably be geared to high.
many, many people have swapped in 2.7t's into 1.8t's and 2.8's. it's nothing new or amazing
talk to Greg(owner) from this shop. http://www.2001s4ny.com/
he's in NYC and can do the swap like you can change your oil. for a great price too. they do amazing stuff there

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just get an S4 instead of swapping out engines.
Just a piece of thought.

so every situation is different. but i agree that you shouldn't really start swapping engines until you've done all your research and found out if it would actually be better for your budget to just buy a true S4..
because when you go to sell your car with a 2.7t swap done to it, it's going to be a nightmare! you'll never get the money back out of it. mainly do to you still have an A4 VIN number. and unless i knew it was done right personally, a 2.7t swapped into an A4 would seem like a very, VERY unreliable thing
