i was looking on a4mods and found a write up on a A4 B6 for changing the front calipers to S4 dual pistons which seemed like it was cake to do. my question is is it that simple to do it on the B5 A4 if so i think i know my next upgrade

I've looked into to doing this. If you read of AW you'll see some posts about misc hardware issues and some issues with suspension interference. I haven't been able to confirm any of the issues I read aboutbut after I looked everyhting over I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

I've got all the necessary hardware to do the swap but haven't been able to get a hold of any S4 calipers to check the interference issues (I just missed some on Ebay). About all I see that is needed in addition to the normal brake stuff are B6 caliper carriers. I got the 3.0 caliper carriers so that they fit over the312mm rotors form the A8 brake upgrade that I did. All I need now are some S4 calipers to check for interference issues.

 

sweet im am very inested in this but brakes are not something to have issues with

 

i would also be ineserted in the a8 brake conversion what parts are need? i will use this as a back up plan just in case the a4-s4 brake conversion is a no go

A friend of mine got my old brakes, they just bolted up.

After you get them done, welcome to the brake to wheel clearance issues all us B5 S4 guys have.

 

What carriers is he using? So just to be clear... he's using B5 S4 brakes on a B5 A4?

 

They bolted right up, yes, B5 S4 brakes on a B5 A4 these are the BIG front ones.

 

is the clearance issues up and down or left to right?
