Default A4 sluggish revving

I'm not sure if this is an isolated incident, since I haven't driven any other A4, but it feels like my 04' 1.8t revs too slow... I tried smashing the pedal on first gear @ 1k rpm and that thing takes a long time to get up revs until the boost comes in at ~3k. Even on neutral, rpm climbs slow...

I drove my bros stock 05' GTI 1.8t and the pickup on that thing is amazing compared to my b6. When smash on the gas it actually loses traction and revving on neutral is also quite quick. I understand that the GTI has a slightly bigger turbo, but the difference is really significant.

This might be a stupid question, but i was just wondering if all you guys got the same dillemma with your A4 when they were still stock. Could the 30lb flywheel be the only suspect?

thx for any feed back

well... the car has been that way since i drove it out the stealership... its just that after driving a GTI, im sure i should be pulling more off that 1.8t. I guess b6's are just really slow off the line..

The gti has about 30 hp/?tq on you which would be very noticeable.. plus his VW probably weighs considerably less. Stock 1.8t's arent "fast" anyway, B5 or B6. Get a chip and boost gauge to make yourself feel better.
But you really should at least get a boost gauge to rule out boosting problems if nothing else is obvious just in case.
