Default A4 Sunroof (has mind of its own)

'97 1.8 T sport

The sunroof when driving seems to change it's position randomly. It may open to the tilt position or it may slide open. But seems to adjust itself every now and again.
It tilts up even when the switch is in the closed position.

Anyone know if this is a common problem or know a fix for it.

Cheers

That is a very common problem, in fact mine does it. I've never gotten around to fixing mine, but i've heard you can remove the switch and clean the contacts with some electrical cleaner. There is always the option to buy one from a junk yard if that doesn't fix it.

Radio Shack sell a tuner cleaner spray that works well.

Probably. The same thing (closes then opens again) happens with my sunroof too. I'm going to use his article to clean the switch this weekend. I'll let you know how it works out.

I tried it and it works wonders! the only hard part for me was taking the motor out of the white casing. i think i cracked it a little, but it still works okay. better than spending 70 dollars for a new one.
