A4 Tyre wear
Whilst test driving a new A4 Tdi Sport I asked the salesman what the expected mileage one would get from the 235/45 R17 tyres. He quickly replied around 15,000 miles.

Does this sound correct? My current car (VW Passat) gets 30-40,000 from its 205/60 R15 tyres.

What's everyone else getting from their A4 17" wheel tyres?

Many thanks

life of a tire depends on the tire's compound, your driving style, your climate... All kinds of things.
15K does not sound like much, but if you have a soft tire then its believable.

RE: A4 Tyre wear
I have an A4 1.8T Sport Cab 2003 model. Tyres are Continental sport contact 2, 235 45 17 y. I got 16,000 miles out of the fronts. Tyre dealer said I could expect no more that 20,000. I will probably get about 20,000 out of the rears, still not good as in the UK the tyres cost £120 each
Strangly the centre of the tyre wore out first. I asked the tyre fitter and he said it was usually due to over inflation. I run my tyres at 32psi all round as the handbook states.
I am wondering if lowering the pressure to 30psi would give longer tyre life
