I have a 1999 A4 2.8q w/sport package. I want to replace the stock audi 16" sport wheels. Can I go to 17" w/no problems?

 

yes you can, assuming you go w/ the appropriate tire....

if you would like a suggestion/opinion, 18s look better to me.

 

Thanks, wasn't sure if 17 or 18" would work cause the car seems quite low now w/16's. Rather go w/s4 type 18's. I've only owned this car for 3 weeks and won't get my drivers license for another month.

 

well remember, when you get bigger wheels, you get lower profile tires... to make up for the larger wheel, so the overall diameter of the tire isnt that much bigger...

 

You also have to remember that low profile tires tend to bend more rims than standard tires. So it is very important to buy quality rims.

 

Just remember to factor in the horsepower loss with 18" wheels. they may be lighter, but 18" puts the center of gravity 2" furter away. meaning the engine ha to work harder at turnin them. bt yes 17 and 18 will fit with no problem.

 

well, compared to 16" wheels, the 18" wheels cog would only be 1" further out, and with the weight reduction, i think there would be minimal difference.
