i want to put some money into a new performance computer chip. is there any way to turn up the boost on the turbo without buying anything, or if not what do you buy and how far can you turn up the boost before it becomes dangerous for everyday driving??

 

Welcome to the forum. The easiest way is to buy a preprogrammed chip which will add about 30 HP. The least expensive chip around is the Neuspeed chip which runs about 320 dollars. GIAC and APR are the most popular and cost about 600 dollars.

Cheapest thrill around.

 

nuthin is free man and theres only 2 ways i kno of to increase boost
a performace chip which i highly recommend (REVO, GIAC, APR)
and a boost controller

 

yeah, that is what i was thinking about getting. is it still safe in the engine, and how easy of an install is it. can you feel the difference in power?

 

people tell me its as differnet as night and day you can really feel the difference
and about install you dont install it since you have a 2001 i think u can just go to your local chip dealer of your choice and they can just reflash it and that takes about 10 mins
or u might have to take out your ECU mail it in and they soder the chip in to your ECU and then they mail it back and then u install it back into your car
so there might be some DIY rite there

 

what do you mean reflash it. sorry im new with the turbos but i love them. i just bought my 2001 A4 1.8t and i love it. its a five speed and only has 32000 miles on it.
