Default ABS, Brake Light On...

My ABS and Brake Light are on, they do not flash they are on steady... The car runs fine I've been driving it for a while like that and drives normal... Does anyone know why these lights may be on? When I was getting my accessory belt done the guy told me I needed new rear disc brakes, Can this be the probelm? I got a 97 A4 1.8T... Thanks in advance...

When mine came on, it was because the abs module was fried, but I can't say for sure what your problem is.

Probably the ABS module. Common failure, typical symtoms.

there are no rear pad sensors. If your ABS sensors were the problem youd probably notice that your ABS is activated when unnecessary. Having the ABS light and Brake light("BRAKE", not the (0) symbol.) at the same timeusually means your ABS module is faulty.

ORIGINAL: avant80@2.6

ABS sensors
bad/lose ABS sensors would not also cause the BRAKE light to come on.
