ABS, Brake Light On...
what would be worthwhile is to think about common problems and whattheir associated sypmtomsare with the AUDI A4 and be suspicious of that sort of thing before suspecting something that is an uncommon failure. The ABS with Brake light on symotaniously is a common symptom for a faulty ABS controller.
Easy to test. Get going up to speed and do a hard brake (preferably in rain/snow-be careful) try to activate the ABS. If it doesn activate, you know what your problem is, or isnt.

the (o) is the pad wear light correct? Could it have any correlation with the cold as well?

there are no rear pad sensors. If your ABS sensors were the problem youd probably notice that your ABS is activated when unnecessary. Having the ABS light and Brake light("BRAKE", not the (0) symbol.) at the same timeusually means your ABS module is faulty.

OK, so I go kind of fast and slam the brakes and my tires skid and so my ABS isn't working... So what does this mean? Do I need a new ABS Module? Or pump? Or do I need both? My friend has a vag so I'm just going to vag it when I get a chance. Mean while, the car seems to run fine no problems... How much will the dealer charge to fix or should I do this myself? Was looking on ebay, anyone have any opinions on the rebuild?
If your brakes are locking up/skidding and not pulsing like they should then ya from everything you say it sounds like the abs module is dead. Your not in any danger or anything, you just dont have abs functionality. Definately dont take it to the dealer. There are a couple places that rebuild them (forget who, search) for about $200-$300. Or I think you can get them new for $400-$500. Ive seen them on ebay, but i forget if its a new unit or for a rebuild. If it were me, Id just try to find one at a junk yard off an A4, A6, or S4. Not sure if its the same on the A8, but it probably is. Contact www.shokan.com also they probably have it.
I think I am going to replace the ABS Module... Where exactly is it located, I was reading somewhere, is it located under the rear left seat? If not where is it exactly? Thanks you guys a lot you guys been a great help...
PS, is there a way without a vag to know that it's the module for sure? I don't want to spend money on the module if I don't need it...

try this slam on the brakes if they lock it means that the abs sensor and/or module is out not too important for the time being, just remember that you dont have abs or edl
