Default ABS Module

My ABS module has been bad since I bought my car. Its a 2000 1.8TQM and I found a module on eBay for a 2002 quattro which is only $70. I'm wondering if this will fit in my car and if I should even bother buying one on eBay or if I should look somewhere else or possibly send mine in to get it rebuilt. What do you guys think?

You can have it rebuilt but if you find a cheap replacement then why not. Just make sure the part number is the same. It should have the same ending letter. For example, mine is 8E0 614 111 M, thats the only one that'll fit my car. I'm in the same boat also, but it doesn't affect braking so I just ignore it for now.

Yeah, I've been driving around for a while with no ABS and I'm fine but winter is on its way and I live in Ohio so.... you do the math.

i don't mind the abs light on and crap, but the thing that bothers me is that stupid beeping noise. i have that " service inspection " thing that i have to get my car inspected, when i turn my lights on it makes a long beep noise, ugh all this beeping is annoying.

my abs module is broken as well. the mechanic said it was going to be 1,000. somehow my mom brought it down to 500. kinda interesting but yeah. where is this abs module located? i wanna check out the number so i could search ebay for some cheaper ones or something.

thanks.

So modules on eBay are a good idea? Or should I pay to have mine rebuilt? I want to know which is better.

If you want peace of mind then get it rebuilt. Most of those shops do it with a lifetime warranty. The price difference would be the deciding factor for me.

Do not drive without your ABS in the winter. For sure you back end will turn sideways. Without ABS the rear brake are too strong and will cause the rear to go sideways. This will also happen on wet roads or if you brake really hard (it happen to me several times)

I had my ABS module repaired by Circuit Solutions in Moscow ID. It was a quick turn around and the car was still driveable during the repair. I strugged to get the unit out, then realized that it is quite easy once you remove the front wheel and remove the plastic fender well panel.....da

Anyway the cost was $200 plus freight one way. Curtis does something to the unit to make sure the fault does not happen again. Once I put the unit back on thelight went out and the brake are correct. I did a high speed hard brakeon a backroad and theABS kicked in perfectly, no fish tail.
