Default ABS warning light

Driving up the M5 today my ABS warning light came on. I have only owned the car 2 weeks and the person I bought it off said it happened to hime once before after he had the front discs and pads changed 3 months ago.

The braking felt normal to me for the rest of the journey and when I started the car up later the light went off. It came back on several minutes later.

Are there any easy things I can check myself? I'm reluctant to take to Audi for diagnostics so want to try anything I can first.

Thanks in advance, James

Lots of part stores will read your ECU as well to see if its an ABS problem with the module or something else. Take it somewhere and have them read it (its usually free)

i dont think those crappy odbII readers can read the ABS computer....

could be a bad speed sensor, either in the upright or on the axle, could be your ABS computer begginning to crap out.

After another day of driving it seems the warning light is off when I start driving and then after 10 minutes or so on the motorway it comes back on?
