You won't get any of the higher HP chips - they are not sold in the US. Nor will you get that 310hp from a stock K03 turbo. These higher HP chips are meant to be paired with bigger turbos and other additions to the car. A stock K03 starts producing hot air once you push it beyond its limits and it will do nothing for you.

 

Just how much does octane boost "boost" your octane?

Although they have names like 104+, etc, if you read the fine print, they don't say how much your octane is actually boosted. They never say that octane will be increased X number of points. Just out of curiosity I was at Pep-Boys killing time and read all the fine print on all the makes they had available.

My guess is that they would increase 91 gas to 92. Just my opinion.

 

I'm trying to remember the octane grades I saw while I was in Germany. I think the highest was 108, but I saw plenty of 100 and low 100s.

Octane booster you buy in a store does absolutely nothing for your car. Adding a bottle of that to a tank of gas and you are lucky to raise your octane level by 0.5. Even people who go all out and buy Toluene for racing only get 2 to 3 point octane gain if they are lucky.

Don't waste your money.

 

Aren't the octane ratings different in Europe? Seems to me I remember some dialogue about how they use a different formula for determining octane. I can't remember the exact data, but IIRC, the Euro numbers are a bit higher because of the difference in formulating the rating. Anybody else remember this?

 

is the ABT chip shown in Brrmans link the best one here in the US? it seems like it has lower gains then the other frontrunners, like GIAC and APR?

 

Yeah they probably make the best chips i know of. While in switzerland all the audis had abt chips and they all hauled ***. They had S3 and RS3 and RS4's all over the place.

on octane boosters, crap, all crap.
toluene (too-lean) is probably the best thing to do. Check with builders square if you want some.

 

Yes imolas 98 eur octane is about 93 in the stastes. but the 240, 280, 310 all have other parts with them.

I gave them a call

240 hp: Chip, Exhaust, fuel pressure regulator, high-flow air filter.

280 hp: KO4, Chip, Exhaust, Fuel pressure regulator, high-flow air filter.

310 hp: Ported, Polished, Clipped KO4, Ported and polished equal length header, Turbo-back exhaust w/ cat elimination, Chip, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, Aluminum intake pipes, and high-flow air filter.

 

Well, depends which 98 octane gas.
Whether this is the Research octane number, motor octane number or what is on the pumps in the US (which is the average of the 2).
