Default AHA or AFC

I'm trying to get a replacement motor, but are these two types interchangable. The car is a 98 a4 2.8 quatro with manual transmission?
thanks

the AFC is a 12v engine. I'm not sure if the AHA is also a 12v but I would look in your manual or it is probably on your car somewhere, what engine you need.

ok so I have searched and have not found very much valuable info. I need a replacement motor for my car but don't know for sure which one. the motor was removed prior to me purchasing it. there is a place by my house that has the afc, but they don't have the aha. If someone could tell me the difference, or if they are interchangeable I would greatly appreciate it,
Thanks

It's to my understanding that in 98 they swithced from the 2.8L 12v to the 2.8L 30v. So '98 and up should be 30v but then again I think it calls for 3 different types. Best bet is just call an Audi Dealership and give them your VIN # and they can tell you which engine code is yours.

you need the AHA code, the 12v v6 AFC was abandoned at te end of 97 as of 98 on the new 30v AHA took over until 2001 on the A4 and was then repplaced by the 3.0
