hey guys i got a, 1998 audi a4 1.8t quatto automatic trans..100k miles now..i have a pioneer flip out in it and right now the car has gone mad...its running off 3 cylinders driving like absolute crap.bad idle and slow response..the car also sounds like its pissing air when i drive..i brought it to my uncle..he sed he tested the wires and coil packs and stuff and it wasnt that..so i brought it to a audi tech..he sed it could be my radio..i put the stock one back in and my check engine light is still on and its still running like crap...any one have any ideas how much this could be to fix and what the hell it might be? i really appreciate it

 

Whats the code for the check engine light on for? If its a misfire the likely cause is an ignition module or coil.

 

check your codes first, and get a vag-com if you can.

You have your CEL is on, don't know about the code and you're asking us to tell you how much it's gonna cost...

You're saying you hear air pissing... I dont know what you hear but it might be a leak or turbo spool.
Leak also cause many problems.

 

ugh, i dont have a scan tool...yea the pissing sound comes when the turbo usually spools..the audi tech sed he checked the coil packs and stuff and it wasnt that..but i also think he didnt have a audi scan tool

 

Go to Pep Boys or Auto Zone. They should scan it for free.

 

I had a similar problem about two years ago with my '99 1.8T (its sand it was the ignition module. It sucked cause the part to fix it was $600. Hope this isn't the problem.

one that works at a mobile gas station..i saw audis like all over there so i went to him...i hope its not sand in the ignition module either....lol...i brought it to a foreign car speacialist..he seemed pretty confident..i hope its somthing stupid like a bad fuel injector
