Air bag
1.) Disable the SRS system.
a.) Turn the steering wheel to the straight ahead position, turn the ignition switch to the Off position and remove the key.
b.) Disconnect the negative battery cable. (If you are using the factory radio, MAKE SURE you have the radio code first.)
c.) Before touching any airbag system component, ground yourself to a metal part of the vehicle to discharge any static electricity.
2.) Remove the glovebox.
a.) Remove the (2) lower retaining screws below the glovebox.
b.) Open the glovebox, pry the light out and disconnect the electrical connector.
c.) Remove the (2) upper retaining screws inside the glovebox.
3.) Remove the airbag module.
a.) From under the dash (where glovebox was), disconnect the electrical connector from the airbag module.
b.) Remove the (4) airbag mounting bolts. (There are two on the left, two on the right.)
c.) Gently pry the airbag module from the brackets on the dash support.
Installation is reverse of removal proceedure.
4.) Enable the SRS system.
a.) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
b.) Make sure NO ONE is inside the vehicle.
c.) Connect the battery cable.
d.) Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, then with your body out of the path of the airbags, turn the ignition switch back to the ON position.
e.) Confirm that the airbag warning light is functioning correctly. It will need to be turned off using a VAG-COM or OBDII reader.
5.) Unlock the factory radio.
a.) Turn the radio ON. The display will read "SAFE" for a few seconds, and then will change to "1000".
b.) Using the first four radio preset buttons, enter the radio code.
i.) Press radio preset button one until the first digit of your code is reached. Use preset button two for the second digit, and so on.
c.) Press and hold the SEEK button until you hear a sound from the radio. The display will read "LSM" if you've entered the correct code.
d.) If you enter the wrong code, you have two attempts PER HOUR to enter the correct code.
