hi guys i have a 2002 a4 tdi uk model . basicley my air con was working before , but after 2 months wasnt using air con regulerly, now it just doesnt give cold air. had gas checked, plenty gas. air con specialist checked it , he says power is going to the compresser but its just (compreser)not turning on. it just blows hot air even in econ mode, cud it be head unit or ?. your help is apreciated

 

The mechanic is not very helpful. Check if the lines going through the engine firewall are cold, If so, then it could be a stuck flap valve that directs the air over the interior cooler. Alternativey, if you have access to a vagcom ( check the vagcom locator posted on the useful information section for people who will lend one), you can check for codes in the unit.

Otherwise try to find a mechanic that specializes in Auid or VW and will have the necessary equipment to scan for fault codes.
