Default Air Conditioning

Hello there. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about air conditioning in a 98 A4 2.8 Quattro. as when the vehicle is stationary the air conditioning doesn't seem to work. but when i am moving it is ice cold! I think that the belt is slipping as there is a squeak like a belt slipping when stationary and i have been told that when i drive away the noise stops. if it is the belt where can i find it and how do i tighten it?

Thanks in advance,
Sam

you cant tighten the serpentine belt up (one belt for all things) its spring loaded so perhaps you just need a new belt

Default RE: Air Conditioning

I have a '99 and just went through this (if it's the same problem). My auxillary electric fan was not running as it should when the temperature increases or the AC is on high. There is a 40A fuse under the dash, just to the left of the pedals, it was blown. I replaced it and the fan started running, along with making some not so nice grinding noises. The electric fan was basically fried, so I ordered this one as a replacement:

It was a drop in replacement and only needed to use my factory connector on the end. Now my AC is frosty cold while I sit in traffic.
