Default Air/Fuel Gauge Difficulties

After installing my new air/fuel gauge last saturday night i ran all the wires, soldered the line to the sensor wire, and ran it to power... the gauge works, however it flashes on and off blinking between giving me a reading and a single green saying im lean... it blinks with a rythm so its not a loost wire... im wondering if its underpowered... i temporarily spliced and soldered it to one of the lights that lights up the air vent adjuster things... think its underpowered? oh yea and then after that is when i hit the infamous deer... it works, i just cant deal with its flashing

this is all the time, down to the floor or idling it keeps blinking between the correct reading and the extreme right of the gauge if lean

yea same exact thing with mbc both on and off, its the green light that when i was testing it for power with no sensor wire attached it was just steady green telling me it was on... now it flashes from the reading to that staying like a second at each
