Default airbox mod...

could someone direct me to a link explaining the airbox mod...i know ive seen it before, but cant seem to find it. it basically consists of drilling holes in the box right? hows that do in the rain?

No holes you take it apart and shorten the air tunnel going to the MAF than remove the hot air flap so it draws through the fender. I dont have a link but if you search it's in here somewhere.

You dont need to cut the maf tube.. just remove it completely incase you want to re-install it.. you need to make sure you tighten the clamp on the outside of the airbox that connects the intlet hose to the MAF sensor.. b/c thats the only thing holding it in place when/if you remove the tube..

FYI i did the airbox mod. and noticed absolutely no gains that i could tell.. but i did notice a little more growl from the intake.. sounds nice

I cut the MAF tube down not the box it's self but WTF maybe thats better.....

Same here very small gain in sound only....

A4 the Quattro did you pull the criss cross thingy in the MAF? I think it's to straiten the air before the sensor???

on a side note.. i bought a stock airbox setup off a guy from AZ for like $40 .. so when it gets in.. im gonna play around with a new stock airbox mod.. putting the dremel to work baby
