Default Alarm Problem

I have an 01 1.8tQM. The alarm went crazy last night and the car was towed while I was sleeping for noise pollution. I don't think it is the internal sensor since all windows and doors are closed.

I just want to know if there is a way to disable the alarm while keeping the doors locked. I need to make sure it doesnt go off again until I can have it looked at.
Unhooking the horn may be one option. Does anybody know how to do this?

Thanks for the help in advance.

You can adjust the sensitivity with a Vag-Com.

Is unhooking the battery a quick and safe alternative for the short term?
All I would need to do is reset the radio once I hook it back, right?
Are there other things that would be cleared and need to be reset if I do this?

Well if you don't feel like driving the car, then yeah unhooking the battery is ok. You may or may not need the radio code. On mine the radio doesn't reset if I disconnect the battery. Some may.

I ran my battery down last week. The radio security code had to be entered. All radio stations were remembered. My homelink also remembered the garage door code. I had to reprogram the one touch down for the windows.

After reconnecting the battery turn ignition key part way, do not crank for at least 5 seconds.

There may be a valet setting for the alarm. Check owner's manual.
