Under $5k – I bought her about a month ago with busted TB, hence head went south… Its 1998 1.8TQM. So after we completely rebuild the head, replaced every imaginable bolt, gasket, all tensioners (including cam chain one), hoses, fittings etc, she grossed about $4600 total out of my pocket (including the car).

Now that she is back in one piece, did not realize how much fun this car was to drive (compare to my prior Coupe GTs, and many B3 cars). So the “original plan†of being just a stock daily driver is kinda outdated.

So for the next few months I will be gathering all the parts for the project, and will probably install everything in one day.

Performance – want to get about 240-250 reliable CHP:

-K04 turbo upgrade (cheaper to piece the kit Vs. $1699 from AWE)
-GIAC chip (AWE said they have one for K04 specifically)
-5.0 bar FPR
-Borla exhaust
- FMIC, cant see spending $1k, will make one based on the quality core
-Upgraded clutch kit (southbend or spec suggested in many threads here)
-APR snub (installed)
-Bailey Motorsport DV (installed)

Handling:

-Updated control arm kit
-Bilstein sport shocks/struts
-Vogtland 35mm springs (arrivied)

Appearance:

-S4 look, really like them (S4 front bumper is here)
-18†wheels, don’t want to go bigger, would like to have a “some†meat on them.

Many thanks to all for so much valuable info on this forum, “SEARCH†option works great!

Wheels, oh, that’s the sore subject… I’m very particular when it comes to the wheel selection, and it usually takes me months before deciding on one specific set. This pearl color is indeed throwing me off…

I have a spare set of 18x7.5 Flik Wasp, but black face with polished lip (using on my MB currently) Looks mean on the black little benz, but would probably look odd on this car… I love the look of stock S4/Avus (I think is the name, but in 18â€), they look massive! I just may consider powdercoating them in different color?

What did you have in mind?

I was after the S4 avus wheels for a while... VERY happy I didn't get them. I don't know why, but suddenly they just arent that appealing to me anymore. I think I liked them because they were on a car I love... but to an outsider, they are just OEM wheels -- nothing special.

I'd go with a light gunmetal on the pearl white... as light as you can find.

if its a project car why go with only a K04 and not something bigger? Maybe the APR stage 3?
