start with a chip and diverter valve. Then take it from there.
Check out www.goapr.com and www.giacusa.com

Is your car manual or automatic, fwd or quattro? You've got to get a chip to start things off. The power difference over stock (especially between 3,000 and 5,500 rpm) is incredible. When you do this you'll need to get a new diverter valve; I recommend the 710N. If it's manual, I would then recommend a snub mount. This dramatically improves shifting and IMO is a must after you're chipped. If your not gonna upgrade your turbo right now, the only other engine mod I would recommend is a cat-back exhaust and high-flow cat. It's not so much that the exhaust will add a ton of power, but exhaust is critical on turboed cars. N/A cars need to retain some back pressure or they will actually lose torque. However, in a turboed car the turbo creates all the back pressure you'll need so a free flowing exhaust is a must. The exhaust will reduce turbo "lag" creating more horsepower throughout the entire rpm range. I would personally recommend a Labree HFC and Borla Cat-back. As for the cold-air intake. The only descent one that I know of is the Carbonio from APR. I say it descent because it won't rob you of power (but it probably won't add any either). The stock air box is sufficient, so basically you'd be paying $400 to have some cool looking carbon fiber under your hood (and you could've used this money to buy e-codes). Next, I'd move to suspension: Coilovers, swaybars (front and rear if your non-sport, just rear if your sport), strut brace, and possibly a drive train stabilizer. Well anyway, hopefully this will help.

For the chip, you will have to send your ECU to the company. The chips have to be soldered on to your ECU and personally I wouldn't trust anyone to do it except for the supplier of the chip. I'm lucky enough to live close to APR so I just drove to Auburn and had them put it in while I waited. If I had it to do over I would have gotten GIAC only because I could upgrade to their K04 software for $200, APR doesn't have any deal like this so keep that in mind. Definetly go with either APR or GIAC though, they are the most aggressive and most reliable. Good luck!

As fior the blow off sound, Blitz did a recirculating dump valve that was designed to make the noise, but recirc the air... Not sure how that would fit into the 1.8T setup, as I'm not that knowledgable about audi motors, but they worked fine on the 3s-gte...

not sure but i feel there is one more thing that should be changed when you do all of this
since the 1.8T's speed gaughe only goes untill 160mph/260Km
you will need a change for this also RS4 maybe ?
i know my so far still stock 1.8T has 190Hp makes it to 245 Km i think maybe 250 never tried , but since it only goes untill 260 any of the serious HP upgrades makes your meter go out of reach
