Alternator shot

My alternator called it quits on meother dayand I need to order new part. Can someone tell me where on the alternator does it have the part number to know if I need to pick up a Bocsh or Valeo? Thanks

-I called Audi dealer and they could not tell me

i didn't know either, but the places where the bolts go are totaly diff. the haynes manual will tell you and then you can just get under the car and look. make sure you get the right voltage too. there's 90 and 120. i think the sticker with the option code in the spare tire well tells you. just find that list of codes on this site

Im curious what angle your going to get at this thing from. The alternator on my 2.8 is pretty loud, i don't know how long it'll last.

It should say on the back of the alternator. On the black cover. It will give you the make and the amp rating. Just a wild guess, 90 amp bosch. Seems to be the most common.
