Mass air flow. the guy at autozone gave me a list of remedies. but i still am having a problem with my car. randomly while waiting at a light or stop it will die, and when i go to turn it over it will start and then die, resulting in me putting on the flashers for a couple minutes whle i give the car time to rest, and then it usually starts up again. what is going on?!

 

I'm not sure it would be the mass air flow? It sounds like your problem is a little bigger than that. I just had my mass air flow replaced and was not experiencing near the problem your having. Did you get the codes read? If so, post them and we can get you some kind of answer. Did you replace the mass air flow sensor?

Year engine mileage and mods would help to.

 

First off the car is a 96 A4 2.8 quattro with 80,000 on it. This is a new problem which started occuring in the last month or so.

As for the mass air flow, this is the code : P Code PO103

I dont know if that helps

Problem:
Wiring short to positive, MAF/VAF sensor and ECM maybe

 

P0103 = wiring short to positive on the MAF sensor, check for damaged wires to the multi plug and if the pins in the multi plug are clean and not rotted

 

where do you guys find out what the codes mean besides autozone? is there a website or something?

 

there are many sites to tell you basic things about the codes just type OBD2 in your search, as for the actual problem I use autodata which is costly
