Another Question for Snow tires!
okay..another question regarding snow tires for a 2004 A4 3.0 Ultra Sport. It's lowered 1.5 inches. I was told by Sunset Audi in Portland, OR that they highly recommend not putting chains on snow tires because it would mess with the suspension. Is this true? Or would it more likely mess with the drivetrain? Chains may not fit anyway but I want to make sure if I'm at the mountain and chains are required.
Chains probably aren’t a good idea if it’s lowered. Every time I have gone up to the mountain they have been ok with traction tires, but if you’re worried about them saying you need chains I think some snow tires are exempt from that, just something I was told my tire dealer. I know they were right on my truck tires cuz I got stopped for not having chains and I showed them a brochure that I was given by my dealer and they let me go. The tires I have on my car were just studded ones and I always took my truck if chains were required.
