Default Another timing belt question sorry

Hey guys I have a 1997 A4 with 127,000 kms on the clock. The dealer advised that the timing belt was done in 2001 when the car probably had about 80 to 90 km. Is the timing belt supposed changed at 4 years or 90,000kms or just at 90,000kms, cause obviously my car hasn't done 90,000kms since the last change, but the dealer said it should be changed every 4 years. Is the dealer taking me for a ride or should I have the timing work done in a few months as the dealer suggested?

Most of us suggest changing the timing belt every 100,000 km. Nobody goes by time.

Ahem...why are you going to the dealer? Find a good mechanic who specializes in Audi/VW

just bought the car and took in it in for the tie rod recall, which of course did not need doing they said, but while I was there I wanted them to check when timing belt was changed... and they did, and they were so nice they didn't charge me for labour (sarcastic), they are such ripoff merhcants, they charge $120.00 Australian for labour per hour, when normal mechanics charge $60 to $70.

I have a control arm and tie rod issue with my front left wheel, so my mate who is a mechanic is going to order the parts and is going to fix it for me for half the price that audi quoted.

sweet car though, now just got to fix the airconditioning problem, I think the fan is rubbing on something, everytime I turn left the ac fan makes a terrible rattling noise, so hopefully it can get fixed somewhere, when I got the car checked over the mechanic said the heater hose was not on properly on the external wall, whatever that means, hopefully the mechanic knows what it is when I get the control arm/tie rod fixed.
