I wanted to know if i took a 2.8l out of a 98 or early 99 A4with the ECU would i be able to just drop it in to a 96 A4? Could I use the same transmission? or would i need the one out of there to? Also is there such thing as a 6 speed A4? and would i be able to use that transmission? Thanks guys

the only way this is somewhat worth while is if you had a whole parts car with that engine. You would need the ecu, thats for sure. as far as the engines go, they are very similar. Your guna need to get the engine withall the fuel rails injectors, harness etc. and match up the wiring. For the most part the engines are very similar.
If your mechanically inclined you should be able to pull it off. i had planed the same thing not long ago, but i ended up selling my 12v to buy a 1.8
