I just got a 2000 Audi A4 1.8T AWD Auto and i'd like to place a stanrad manual gerabox in there or even an S4 gearbox. Does anyone have any idea if it's possible? And how hard it is? BTW there's an S4 gearbox on eBay with only 24 hours on the bid left so i'm slightly in a rush.

my friend bought a 'lude that was switched from auto to manual and it was not a good fit, the car jsut wasn't done well. I think you can do it but why wouldn't you just buy a manual car to begin with?

 

Your gonna have to do some modifiing and you're gonna have to buy a hell of a lot more parts than just the tranny. Plus you have to change the ECM so its not looking for the TCM signals and all kinds of crap, audi's are too complicated to just slap a tranny on there.

 

An S4 tranny could be an auto or manual. You would be better off just buying a manual car instead of going through the headache of trying to swap everything out.

 

Unless you're prepared to spend $5,000 don't do it.
