I've got to remove my tank (in a 99 A4 1.8T) to fix some holes left in the top of it by the previous owner, as he screwed his sub box to it. Now that the box is gone gasoline fumes are filling the cabin. Any tips/tricks? The Mitchell guide I have does not cover this particular job.

no tips but man was the previous owner a dumb ***! u could be ghetto and fill the holes with jb weld from thre inside of the trunk? just a thought. sorry i couldnt be of more help.

 

Nah, that would only fix the trunk, the holes in the tank would still be there. I've got to drop it.

 

how big of screws did he use? i used like 1/2 inchers to screw mine down and didnt have a problem.
