Default Anyone else have a whimpy horn?

I'm not talking about the alarm horn that I've read about in the searches. I'm talking about the regular old steering wheel triggered horn. Mine sounds like it belongs on my RC car or maybe a VW bug. It's just oddly high pitched and weak. So I was wondering if this is just an Audi thing or if maybe I just have a bum horn? I just bought my 02 A4 1.8TQM. So I'm not sure just yet what is normal Audi stuff and what maybe particular to my Audi.

I have two other questions, hopefully you guys can help. How canI tell if I have HIDs or halogens? If they are halogens they are really good halogens. AlthoughI will say they seem angled down pretty far. In my owner's manual I've seen interior drawings where the light switch has a little dial right next to it(counts from 0-3I think). Is this some sort of self alignment dial? I know some Audis come with self aligning headlights, but again don't know if mine did.

Thanks for any help guys. I have a ton more questions about this car. but I am absolutely loving how it drives. Smoothest car I've ever owned, and I've owned a bunch.

If your horn sounds weak and high pitch you probably have a bad horn, there is a high and a low pitch horn, I would imagine the low pitch is gone.

you would know HIDs..they would have a brighter white color not yellow at all like the Halogens and they are simply very bright

the horn..yea mine is weak too..u could always do some searching and find a upgrade replacement like a Ferrari horn....lol

any questions post em most of us have alot of answers from experiences

welcome to the audi fam..glad u like the car

sounds like the horn(s) have a bad ground you can fit more powerful twins if you wish to give a poor old sod a heart attack lol,

HIDS are brilliant but at a cost and they are very good

halogens are mostly standard and have a yellow effect but fitting blue ring 100w sorts that out

Thanks for the heads up. it seems like Audi put a lot of time and effort into the driving experience. I know the Horn isn't an intregal part, but mine sound so... not what you'd expect. Twin horns sound very logical and I'd bet the low tone horn is not functioning.

As for the lights I was really hoping to find an A4 with the HIDs, but I'm guessing I wasn't so lucky. I've noticed my lights don't pop on like HIDs I've seen in other cars. That was sort oif the biggest tell for me. So are there conversion kits? I see ecstuning.com has the OEM HIDs for $1600. That's a bit more thanI want to spend. But if there were a kit around $500-600 I might be interested in that. Pipe dream or do they make conversion kits?

Thanks for the help guys. I'll post other questions in different threads.

Mike
