to tell you the truth he HID kits that I have seen actualy draw less power than a regular inductive type bulb. Maybe on the ignition of the HID system but not after that. As for hooking them up, maybe a butspice here or there, but pretty much plug and play.

That looks nice!

Soooo... The only beef with these is aftermarket fitment?

And yes the 1 piece upgrade requires cutting your fenders a bit to fit the curve of the headlight...

Is the front bumper fitment the same from all 96-01???

Looks to me like the "facelift" includes new headlights and fenders... Maybe a different grille, but the hood/bumper are the same shape and mounting points, right??? [&:]

Nate, on a scale of 1-10, i would give the headlight conversion a 1/2. it's really that easy. and if you get 'e-codes' (european version of our headlights) they'll be prewired for city lights.

as far as the HID kits, i have heard of all kinds of cars having trouble with HID conversions and melting wires, but i have yet to here of an audi run into this problem. www.oemhid.com is definitely your best bet for HID.

i had these exact ones. one developed condensation in it and the glass projectors are not all that great. replaced them with 1 peice one when i got into an accident. got them from ecs. so much nicer cleener and not all that hard to cut and install.

the only significant difference is the small 1/4" lip on the older fenders that needs to be cut for the headlights to fit. keep in mind this lip isn't crucial. you only have to cut it down to get the headlight housings to fit. if they aren't cut enough, the headlights won't fit. if they're cut too much, the headlights will cover it up anyway. the bumper is pretty much the same (except the newer bumpers have mounting points for fogs), the grill is slightly different, but the hood and all the mounting points for everything are all the same.

one piece is the way to go, the wiring can be done by someone that has never even done it. so i reccomend the 1pcs, the way i look at it is that there is no reason to buy the 2pc over the 1pc
