This is weird. I replaced my bulbs yesterday and whenI took the cover off the power steering fluid resevoir I see this big gap where "something" should have been... Very strange. Check it out





Could it be that my car used to have HID's?? and this is where the ballast used to be? Also when I removed the headlight units, I noticed a box like space underneath each unit. Could it be that this empty space was used for something to support the HID's? Ifso, I may just have a look at getting them for my ride.

 

I just checked the 03 passat and it looks the same. Only thing i can think of is its just used to mount the connects by the battery.

 

Its where the vaccum pump goes, its only equipped on automatic models.

 

That could explain why my car has the same gap.

 

do you have a black power steering resivoir.. or is it just dirty

 

on my 01 1.8t it has a black cover over that space but that space is there with the cover off. Nothing out of the norm
