How long does the stock turbo usually last?

a long time if you keep up on oil changes and use synthetic. Letting itcool down after hard runs before shutting off helps a lot.

it's hard to say. the average is around 80k..

but some have made it to 130+k chipped and all

then i have seen some only make it to 40k..

there is just to many factors to determine when your turbo will likely fail. like how the previous owner treated it is a big one

The thing that I don't like is I keep feeling like I want things to break on my car, just so I can upgrade everything.

Right now I'm praying to blow the K03 so I can get a K04
plus it makes it a little bit easier to convince the wife/parents to let ya do it

+1 on never hearing anything bad about the TIP chip
I read somewhere when a person was conserned about the transmission not having enough time to build pressure and shift itself. causing it to overheat. this was just their consern not any evidence to go with it

Its not that difficult to sabotage a k03. Just take the turbo inlet hose off while the engine is runningand ram a screw driver in there. Mission accomplished.

did you get 93 or 91 programming? 93 is 214 hp I believe. get an aftermarket exhaust and you could see another 8-12 hp at the crank not the wheels.
